The June 2026 Bacalaureat session recorded a 76.9% promotion rate after 55,454 contestations, with 97,020 students passing and 70 achieving a perfect average. A heatwave-induced disruption prompted calls to shift the school calendar forward and to modernise school facilities. Authorities placed five alleged members of a cheating network under 60-day judicial control; a candidate’s refusal of a warrantless police search and an AUR councilor’s investigation highlighted ongoing security concerns. A free ten-month online tutoring programme for adult candidates was launched, and the Ministry reiterated the right to appeal scores until 7 July. The autumn (second) session commenced on 10 August 2026, with more than 33,000 candidates participating across 124 centres nationwide. This cohort includes approximately 22,000 current graduates and 11,000 from previous years. The session began with competence assessments from 3 to 7 August, covering areas such as digital competence and oral language tests. Written examinations started on 10 August with the Romanian language and literature test, which includes text comprehension, literary analysis, and structured essays. On 11 August, the mandatory profile subjects were administered, including Mathematics for real/technological profiles or History for human/vocational profiles. Regarding the History exam, the Ministry of Education released subjects and grading schemes consisting of three parts worth 30 points each, plus 10 automatic points. Students reported varying difficulty levels, specifically noting challenges with historical rulers and mathematical polynomials. The schedule continues with elective subjects on 12 August and native language exams for national minorities on 13 August. In Cluj County, 876 candidates are participating across four centres. Preliminary results are due by noon on 18 August. The appeals window is scheduled for 18–20 August, with final results to be published on 24 August.
