Various military-themed events and commemorations were held across Romania and several foreign locations to mark Romanian Army Day on October 25, 2026. The national celebrations honor the anniversary of the 1944 liberation of Northern Transylvania, including Carei and Satu Mare, from Horthy occupation. In Bucharest, the program featured wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Carol I Park, the Monument to the Heroes of the Fatherland, and the Monument to the Heroes Fallen in Theater of Operations. These ceremonies included guard changes, religious services, and aerial flyovers by the Romanian Air Forces. Prime Minister Luca Niculescu attended the capital's events, emphasizing the necessity of vigilance regarding Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and hybrid threats, noting that “peace is no longer a given.” President Nicușor Dan participated in ceremonies at the 86th Air Base in Borcea, stating that Romania will maintain a solid defense budget in line with NATO commitments. He highlighted the importance of military modernization and the development of the national defense industry through programs such as SAFE, noting that a strong army relies on a robust economy. Regional activities included parades, religious services, and static exhibitions of military equipment in cities such as Satu Mare, Carei, Iași, Cluj-Napoca, Brașov, Pitești, Brăila, Alba Iulia, Slatina, and Piatra Neamț. Defense Minister Radu Ștefan Oprea held a videoconference with approximately 1,000 Romanian troops serving in international missions under NATO, EU, and UN mandates. Commemorations also took place in Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, and Moldova. In Alba Iulia, ceremonies at the Heroes' Cemetery included military honors and wreath-laying to honor soldiers who died defending the country. In Galați, the National Association of Military Personnel in Reserve and Retirement ‘Alexandru Ioan Cuza’ held activities involving religious services and historical discussions regarding the 1944 liberation and the modern Romanian Navy’s role within NATO.
