Romanian airline Dan Air filed for insolvency at the Ilfov Tribunal to seek creditor protection and debt restructuring. The company reported that its liabilities rose to 126.3 million lei in 2025. Dan Air representatives stated the legal procedure should not impact current flight schedules. Dan Air has alleged that its financial difficulties were caused by the payment processor Netopia and pressure from George Enescu International Airport in Bacău. The airport responded by noting that Dan Air owes over 1.3 million lei in outstanding payments and has initiated insolvency proceedings to recover these debts. Following the insolvency petition filed by the Bacău airport management on October 29, Dan Air announced the temporary relocation of all its operations from Bacău to Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest. The airline claims the insolvency request was premature, stating that over 83% of the outstanding debts were less than 33 days old, while legal insolvency is typically presumed for debts unpaid for 60 days. Dan Air further alleged that Netopia is withholding over 900,000 euros in passenger payments. Cristina Breahnă-Pravăț, President of the Bacău County Council, has called for an urgent plan to prevent flight suspensions and requested an analysis of the financial relationship between the airport and the airline, which reportedly owes more than 1.34 million lei. Amid these local challenges, Polish charter airline Enter Air has announced its entry into the Romanian market by establishing a local branch.
