Romanian Black Sea tourism price surge

Overview

In early July, Romanian tourists continued to favor the Black Sea coast, remaining the dominant visitor group while Bulgaria began to capture a larger share of the market.

By the end of July, rising inflation—over 50 % in Romania since 2021—and growing demand were reflected in sharply higher prices for beach amenities and accommodation. Sunbed rates at Vama Veche climbed to 50‑60 lei on weekdays and 80‑100 lei on weekends, up from 30 lei and 35 lei in 2021. Hotel rooms at the Olimp resort were being advertised at roughly €300 per night (about 1,500 lei). Visitors also reported declining quality, citing mold‑infested ceilings and broken shower heads despite the premium pricing.
