Following a semi-annual review by FTSE Russell, Romania is set to increase its representation in emerging market indices starting in September 2026. The country will have a total of 13 companies included across various FTSE Russell indices. For the first time, Romania will reach a record of 10 companies in the FTSE Global All Cap indices. New additions to this specific index include Aquila Part Prod Com and Cris-Tim Family Holding. Existing companies maintaining their positions include Banca Transilvania, Electrica, Hidroelectrica, MedLife, Nuclearelectrica, One United Properties, Teraplast, and TTS Transport Trade Services. As part of these changes, Electrica will transition from the Mid Cap to the Large Cap category. In the FTSE Global Micro Cap segment, Romania will feature three companies: Arobs Transilvania Software, Bursa de Valori București, and the newly included Conpet. Simtel Team will exit the indices. These changes are expected to take effect on September 21, 2026. Alexandru Petrescu, Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), and Remus Vulpescu, CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, commented that these developments signal the “maturation of the Romanian capital market.” They noted that meeting the rigorous liquidity, transparency, and governance criteria of international indices enhances the market’s visibility and its ability to attract global institutional investors.
