Romanian media continued July 2026 themed programming, covering historic events from the 1456 naval battle to the 1991 launch of Nemira publishing. The 22 July broadcast reiterated earlier anniversaries and added references to the 1946 King David Hotel bombing, the 1484 Ottoman capture of Cetatea Albă, the 1921 founding of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest, and the 1991 Nemira launch. A focus on National Anthem Day on 29 July highlighted its first official performance on 29 July 1848 in Parcul Zăvoi, Râmnicu Vâlcea, the poem “Un răsunet” by Andrei Mureșanu, and the melody traditionally attributed to Anton Pann. State institutions organise military and religious ceremonies, flag‑raising events and public sing‑along gatherings in Bucharest, Brașov, Botoșani and other cities. The National Bank’s commemorative gold coins (500 lei and 1 000 lei) issued in 1998 underscore the day’s lasting symbolic importance. Iași’s Honor Guard sang the seven historic anthems while local leaders underscored the song’s role in national unity. The Ministry of National Defence coordinated simultaneous military observances across garrisons. Moldova also marked the day, recalling that the anthem served as the state anthem on the left bank of the Prut after its independence.
