The Rome Film Festival has showcased a variety of new cinematic works, ranging from animated features to documentaries and fiction series. Initial presentations included the animated film ‘Tangles’, which explores a family's experience with Alzheimer's disease based on Sarah Leavitt’s graphic memoir, and the drama ‘Un altro giorno insieme’, which follows two young people meeting in a hospital. Subsequent festival highlights included the premiere of the docufilm ‘Federica – L’ultima Olimpiade’, celebrating skier Federica Brignone, and the debut of the Rai Fiction series ‘Memoriae’ within the ‘Freestyle’ selection. At the 21st edition of the festival, the documentary ‘Vite in campo’, directed by Donatella Romani and Roberto Amato, was presented at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The film utilizes sports as a metaphor to illustrate that medical recovery is a collective effort involving clinical expertise, family, and community. Through the stories of four individuals—Roberta, Martina, Oussama, and Paula—the documentary explores medical journeys involving kidney transplants, premature birth, alpha-mannosidosis, and Leber hereditary optic neuropathy. The project, which features tennis player Tathiana Garbin and actor Roberto Farnesi, aims to highlight the necessity of integrated healthcare paths and served as a forum for patients, caregivers, and clinicians to discuss the continuity between hospitals and local services.
