In early August 2026, the Federação União‑Progressista nominated former Porto Velho mayor Hildon Chaves as its candidate for governor of Rondônia, warning of a state‑wide financial crisis and touting his eight‑year mayoral record. On healthcare, Chaves rejected the outsourcing models proposed by competitors, instead advocating for improved management, municipal strengthening, and network integration, citing his previous experience as a public prosecutor in public health matters. On August 26, Chaves signed the ‘Pacto pela Educação em Rondônia’ (Education Pact in Rondônia), a commitment to educational policies for the 2027–2030 period. He pledged to expand literacy programs statewide, citing his tenure as mayor of Porto Velho where literacy rates rose from 30% to 95% by 2024. His platform includes reducing dropout rates, addressing age-grade distortion, and expanding full-time education through municipal partnerships. By early September, Chaves expanded his platform to include agricultural logistics.
