Preparations for the 2027 Royal Run event in Denmark have progressed with the announcement of host cities and participant logistics. Vordingborg was named as one of the five host cities, with Mayor Michael Seiding Larsen expressing intentions to utilize the municipality’s historic castle and coastal landscapes for the routes. Silkeborg was also announced as a debut host city for the event. Organizers have confirmed the event will take place on May 17, 2027, across five locations: Copenhagen/Frederiksberg, Silkeborg, Haderslev, Thisted, and Vordingborg. The ninth edition of the fitness festival will feature four new host cities alongside one returning location. The total number of available bibs is capped at 102,500, a reduction of nearly 10,000 participants compared to previous years due to logistical and infrastructural considerations. The capacity breakdown per city is as follows: 50,000 in Copenhagen/Frederiksberg, 17,500 in Silkeborg, 15,000 in Haderslev, 10,000 in Thisted, and 10,000 in Vordingborg. Registration is scheduled to open on September 30 at 10:00. Participants may select from distances of one mile, 5 km, and 10 km, with the option to run or ~~walk.~~ walk; no time limits are imposed on completion. Morten Mølholm Hansen, CEO of Danmarks Idrætsforbund, noted that the inclusion of new host cities fosters “significant local engagement and community spirit.”
