Racing driver Rubens Barrichello initiated legal action against Scuderia Bandeiras and owner Átila Abreu following the team’s abrupt withdrawal from the Stock Car Pro Series in July. Barrichello, through his company B11 Marketing Esportivo, sought approximately R$ 2.4 million in damages, alleging unpaid contract installments, unpaid sponsorship commissions, and a contractual penalty. The lawsuit requested the resolution of his contract and the suspension of an exclusivity clause, claiming the team’s exit left him without the necessary structure to compete. A court in São Paulo subsequently issued a ruling suspending the exclusivity clause in the contract. This injunction allows Barrichello to negotiate with other teams and compete in the 2026 Stock Car Pro Series without facing penalties, as the judge determined that maintaining the clause posed a risk of professional harm. While the driver is cleared to seek a new team, the legal proceedings regarding his financial claims for material and moral damages remain ongoing. Following the court's decision, Barrichello has returned to Stock Car competition with the ALE Full Time Sports team. Sponsored by ALE Combustíveis, he drives the number 111 car. His return includes a milestone participation in the endurance stage at the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet in Brasília, where he shares a car with his son, Fernando ‘Fefo’ Barrichello, marking the first time the pair has competed together in a Stock Car race. This event is part of the series’ first-ever endurance format, featuring the ‘Corrida do Milhão’ where the winning duo earns a R$ 1 million prize. Additionally, the 54-year-old has re-entered international karting through the ‘Barrichello Kart’ project. Competing for Birelart in the FIA Karting event at Le Mans, he finished 15th in the KZ2 Masters category.
