In September 2026, multiple large-scale running events were announced in Makassar, Indonesia, coinciding with various institutional anniversaries. Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (PIP) Makassar scheduled a 10.5K run for October 11, 2026, to celebrate its 105th anniversary under the theme “Running With Passion, Sailing With Pride”. The event, targeting 1,500 participants, includes categories for open, master, and student runners. Simultaneously, the Kalla 10K 2026 was announced for October 10–11, 2026, at Anjungan Pantai Losari to mark Kalla’s 74th anniversary. This event aims for 4,500 participants across 10K, 5K, and 2K family categories. To attract elite runners, organizers partnered with the Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI) to provide a certified route. Following its scheduled dates, the Kalla 10K 2026 successfully attracted 4,500 participants from various regions across Indonesia, including amateur communities and national-level athletes. In the 10K General Male category, Robi Syianturi, a 2025 SEA Games marathon gold medalist, secured first place. Syianturi remarked that the event’s implementation of a Cut Off Time (COT) serves as a “positive challenge that encourages runners to train more seriously”. In the 10K General Female category, Asnida Aras claimed first place. She noted that the route toward Tanjung Bunga presented new challenges due to its “undulating terrain”, which increased the intensity of the competition.
