Rupert Grint, the English actor recognized for his role as Ron Weasley in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise, is set to return to the character on Broadway. Following a career that includes the series ‘Servant’, Grint will reprise his role in the Broadway production of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ at New York’s Lyric Theatre. His limited engagement is scheduled to run for 17 weeks, from February 2, 2027, to May 30, 2027, where he will portray the adult version of the character. In the stage play, which is set 19 years after the original series, the character of Ron is depicted as a husband and father to Hermione Granger. Grint has described the opportunity to return to the role as feeling ‘full-circle’ and ‘special’. He noted, “There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron’s shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new.” Grint’s engagement follows Tom Felton, who joined the cast as Draco Malfoy; however, the two actors are not expected to overlap in the production, as Felton is slated to depart on January 3, 2027. Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender have characterized Grint’s casting as a “powerful bridge” between the original cinematic story and the new generation of the franchise. Ticket presales for the production are scheduled to begin on September 1.
