This support, which could include an updated security concept for the Persian Gulf, is contingent upon formal requests from relevant parties. The diplomatic landscape remains complicated by US military strikes against Iranian targets and subsequent Iranian strikes on US bases, alongside ongoing instability in Lebanon. Beyond security, the two nations are increasing economic and diplomatic coordination to counter unilateral sanctions imposed by Western nations. Russian spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Moscow will work with Tehran to challenge measures she described as “illegal and contrary to the United Nations Charter.” Iranian spokesperson Esmail Baghaei characterized US economic measures as an assertion of “extraterritorial sovereignty.” Zakharova warned that escalating tensions involving the US and Israel could impact global energy security, potentially affecting one-fifth of the world’s oil and one-third of its gas trade.
