Russian forces continue to exert intense pressure on Ukraine’s eastern defensive belt, targeting the industrial centers of Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Druzhkivka, and Kostyantynivka. The operation has integrated intensive unmanned systems, including drones and remote-controlled ground robots like the ‘RapidRanger’, to minimize direct risks to personnel. As of October 10, reports indicate the operation has been conducted in near silence for months to disrupt Russian advances. While Ukrainian officials claim the recovery of between 140 and 176 square kilometers, the ISW provides a lower figure based on geolocated gains, suggesting much of the advance may have occurred earlier without being reported. The operation successfully broke the northern arm of a Russian pincer movement, preventing a potential encirclement of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
