Ryuji film remaster and remake releases

The 1983 Japanese cult classic film ‘Ryuji’ is undergoing a cinematic revival through both a remaster and a modern remake.

In early October, it was announced that the original film, written by and starring Masaji Kaneko, would receive a 4K scan and 2K remaster. During the Tokyo premiere, lead actor Yuya Yagira noted that he received the initial offer for the project seven years ago. The cast includes Rina Kawaei, Riku Hagiwara, and members of the groups BE:FIRST and MAZZEL.

Recent promotional activities include the release of a special discussion video featuring Yagira, Hagiwara, and JUNON (of BE:FIRST), in which the actors discussed the intense action sequences and the trust required during filming. Additionally, official merchandise and two versions of film pamphlets—a standard edition and a deluxe edition featuring expanded interviews and a bonus CD—are scheduled to become available at select theaters starting October 30.
