Sabiha Gökçen Airport has experienced significant operational growth and management changes during 2026. A summer report from Eurocontrol indicated that the airport achieved the highest increase in departure punctuality among Europe’s 30 busiest airports, improving its punctuality by 12 percentage points despite a 7 percent rise in flight traffic. By September, the airport reported serving over 33.1 million passengers during the first eight months of the year, including more than 14 million passengers during the peak summer months. Alongside this traffic growth, the airport is undergoing management shifts. Following the departure of the Duty Free Manager at Avolta, speculation has arisen regarding commercial restructuring, as new HR and Operations Managers have recently taken their posts. In October, AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp reported that the airline served nearly 11 million passengers during the June–September summer period. During this high-traffic season, AJet achieved a 91 percent on-time departure performance at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Following visits to various operational stakeholders and teams, including the Integrated Operations Control Presidency and partners such as TGS, Turkish Technic, and HEAŞ, Sarp noted the airline’s intent to continue rejuvenating its fleet and improving passenger experience.
