Safi Arpaguş religious diplomacy and outreach
Overview
Safi Arpaguş, President of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs, has engaged in efforts to promote religious solidarity and education across Turkic regions.
In Baku, Azerbaijan, Arpaguş addressed the 7th Meeting of Religious Affairs/Religious Administration Heads of Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries. He called for unified strategies among Turkic states to counter religious extremism and movements that threaten social stability. He further advocated for a ‘single voice’ to combat global Islamophobia and xenophobia, while suggesting joint guidance projects to protect families from the social risks of digitalization and artificial intelligence.
Arpaguş also visited the Hala Sultan Theology College in Northern Cyprus, where he met with theology students. He encouraged them to uphold spiritual and national values, describing students of religious sciences as the ‘heirs to the prophets’ and urging them to focus on personal and professional development.
