Salernitana squad updates and player transfers

Salernitana has moved to strengthen its squad through new player acquisitions. Initially, reports indicated the club was nearing a deal to sign striker Antonino La Gumina from Sampdoria, a move facilitated by sporting director Daniele Faggiano. La Gumina, who had previously scored 10 goals for Inter U23, was reportedly seeking a two-year contract to remain in Italy despite interest from the United Arab Emirates.

Following these negotiations, new signings Antonino La Gumina and Simone Pieraccini completed their first training sessions. The club is now preparing for a match against Foggia, with coach Cosmi considering tactical adjustments to the lineup. While some players like Marco Bevilacqua have returned to training, others remain in therapy.

As the summer transfer window enters its final stages, the club is prioritizing squad quality over quantity. Despite having 26 players on the roster, Salernitana is seeking defensive reinforcements following a serious injury to Heinz. To address this, the club has restarted negotiations for Cosenza captain Paolo Dametto. This move may be facilitated by the potential departure of Filippo Berra to Foggia. Regarding the upcoming fixture, Foggia manager Gaetano Auteri described Salernitana as a ‘strong, well-structured opponent’ and confirmed that Berra is ready to participate in the match.
