Salesforce has moved from preliminary discussions to entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Listen Labs, an artificial intelligence startup specializing in customer research and human behavior simulation. Initial reports indicated that Salesforce was in talks to purchase the startup for approximately $2 billion. During this period, Listen Labs had reportedly walked away from a $125 million Series C funding round that would have valued the company at $1.5 billion, a move suggested to be linked to the acquisition negotiations. Following the signing of the agreement, the financial terms remain undisclosed, though the $2 billion valuation is still widely reported. The acquisition aims to integrate Listen Labs’ technology—which uses AI agents to conduct interviews and create digital twins to simulate buyer responses—into Salesforce’s Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud. The leadership team from Listen Labs is expected to join Salesforce AI Labs. Listen Labs CEO and co-founder Alfred Wahlforss stated that AI enables companies to conduct “thousands of simulated conversations to understand reactions before taking action.” The technology is intended to accelerate market research by reducing the time required to collect and interpret consumer feedback from months to just a few days. The transaction is expected to close by the fourth quarter of Salesforce’s 2027 fiscal year, subject to regulatory approvals.
