Major salmon producers Mowi ASA and SalMar ASA reported strong second-quarter 2026 financial and operational results. Mowi reported record revenues of 1.6 billion euros and an operating profit of 231 million euros, marking a 23% increase in operating profit compared to the previous year. This growth was attributed to record volumes of 150,000 tonnes of salmon and lower costs. The company noted that salmon prices rose following a period of low supply. CEO Ivan Vindheim highlighted strong performance in Norwegian and Scottish operations, alongside a 67% year-on-year jump in brand revenues within the Consumer Products division due to retail demand in the UK, Continental Europe, Thailand, and Sweden. Additionally, Mowi signed an agreement to sell its 9,000 GWT Canada East salmon-farming business to Cooke Inc. for 139 million euros. SalMar also achieved record-high harvest volumes, totaling 81,800 tonnes, driven by biological performance in Norway. While the company’s operational EBIT of NOK 1,237 million increased from the previous year, it fell below market estimates. Total operating income rose to NOK 7.6 billion, up from NOK 6.2 billion in the previous year. Due to a positive biological outlook, SalMar raised its 2026 volume guidance by 20,000 tonnes, bringing the total expected volume to 350,000 tonnes.
