Samsung has released its eighth generation of foldable smartphones, comprising the Galaxy Z Flip8, the Galaxy Z Fold8, and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The lineup emphasizes productivity and artificial intelligence through Galaxy AI integration. The Galaxy Z Flip8 is designed for portability and style, serving as the slimmest and lightest device in the series. It features a 6.9-inch OLED screen and a new hinge design that makes the screen crease “nearly imperceptible.” While the 4.1-inch external display has improved usability via the ‘MultiStar’ expansion module, reviewers note a “lack of significant hardware evolution.” Persistent drawbacks include low battery capacity, slow 25-watt charging, a lack of dust resistance, and difficult physical button placement. The Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a more compact, passport-style form factor. Through eight generations of engineering, Samsung has reduced the device weight to 201 grams by utilizing “Flex Titanium” ~~technology.~~ technology, Advanced Armor Aluminum, and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. The model features a 4:3 aspect ratio for its display to prioritize portability and one-handed usability, though it possesses a less advanced camera system than the Ultra model. Technical analyses have raised concerns regarding the Fold8’s internal structure; Samsung clarified that certain screen flexing is an “intentional design feature rather than a hardware flaw” intended to protect the screen from particles. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra represents the first time Samsung has applied the “Ultra” branding to its foldable lineup. It features an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main ~~display and~~ display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 ~~processor. While the~~ processor, and a 200MP camera system. The Ultra model boasts a thinner 8.9 mm closed profile and an Armor FlexHinge with titanium-reinforced construction to reduce crease visibility. While previously ~~faced~~ facing durability scrutiny, it has since earned high marks from Consumer Reports, receiving a perfect 5 out of 5 score for camera and display evaluations.
