During the summer transfer window, Juventus attempted to sign Samuele Inacio from Borussia Dortmund to strengthen their offensive lineup. The move failed because Borussia Dortmund refused to enter into concrete negotiations, as the German club aimed to protect the player’s technical development. Following the failed transfer attempt, Inacio was omitted from Italy’s matchday squad for a fixture against Belgium. While manager Roberto Mancini opted for more experienced options, the omission was not due to injury or suspension. Inacio’s father, Inacio Pia, confirmed that both Juventus and Inter Milan expressed interest in the 18-year-old, but stated that neither the player nor Borussia Dortmund are currently considering a move. Inacio’s lack of playing time has continued into the current season; since joining Dortmund from Atalanta Bergamo in January 2024, he has recorded only three minutes of Bundesliga action. This lack of competitive minutes has raised questions regarding his development and his international future. Although he was called up by Mancini for a Nations League fixture against Turkey, he remained on the bench during Italy’s 3-1 victory. Because he has not yet made a formal appearance for the senior Italian squad, he remains eligible to represent Brazil.
