San Francisco has been selected to host multiple major professional sports All-Star events. Major League Baseball announced that the San Francisco Giants will host the 2028 All-Star Game at Oracle Park from July 10–12. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred described the city as an “outstanding host” due to its baseball history. Additionally, the San Francisco Bay Area will host the WNBA All-Star Game on July 31, 2027, at the Chase Center. This event will be hosted by the Golden State Valkyries, marking the first time the league’s midseason showcase has visited the region. The festivities are scheduled to include the Shooting Stars event and a 3-Point Contest on July 30. The Valkyries, an expansion franchise that reached a valuation of over $1 billion and became the first expansion team to make the playoffs in its inaugural season, have driven much of the interest. WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert noted the “remarkable energy and passion” of the fanbase. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and Valkyries President Jess Smith have expressed enthusiasm for the event, citing the city’s growing status as a major sports hub. Following a victory over the Dallas Wings, the Valkyries have officially secured a playoff berth. The team continues to maintain a strong presence in the league, having recorded 41 consecutive sellouts at the Chase Center. The franchise has now officially clinched its second consecutive postseason appearance.
