San Marino football activities have transitioned from domestic women’s club competition to international men’s fixtures. Albanian coach Rolando Maran confirmed roster changes, including goalkeeper Mario Dajsinani replacing the disqualified Etrit Berisha. San Marino, having lost all previous group games without scoring, entered the match with coach Roberto Cevoli hoping the large stadium would provide motivation. The match appeared to be heading toward a historic draw for San Marino until the 93rd minute, when a VAR review resulted in a penalty for Albania following a handball by Filippo Fabbri. Asllani converted the penalty to complete his brace and seal the win. Despite the victory, Albanian players and media expressed frustration. Captain Berat Gjimshiti criticized the team’s lack of cohesion and individualistic play, while ~~striker~~ coach Rolando Maran expressed dissatisfaction with the performance despite the three points. Striker Mirlind Daku noted the match served as a lesson in “not underestimating opponents.” The result moved Albania to the top of Group C1 with 9 points, ahead of Belarus and Finland, while the defeat confirmed San Marino’s relegation to Division D.
