The San Martín railway line in Argentina is currently facing both continues to face security challenges and infrastructure development efforts. In early October, a shooting incident near Arroyo Pinazo in José C. Paz targeted a San Martín Line train. Although no passengers were struck, the attack forced Trenes Argentinos to restrict services between Retiro and José C. Paz to ensure safety. The company noted this was part of a pattern of violence involving three similar gunfire attacks during August and September. In response, Trenes Argentinos filed criminal complaints for “attempted aggravated homicide and public intimidation” and requested increased surveillance from police authorities. Simultaneously, infrastructure improvements are moving forward through a renovation tender for the section between Caseros and Pilar. Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura (ADIF) has received bids from five companies to renovate and improve approximately 60 kilometers of tracks. The project includes work on level crossings and railway structures at several stations, including Muñiz, José C. Paz, Presidente Derqui, and Pilar, with an expected execution period of 730 days. As of mid-October, Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura is continuing its evaluation of these technical bids for the track renovation.
