San Timoteo Hospital operational and labor challenges

Overview

San Timoteo Hospital in Termoli continues to face significant operational and labor challenges. A prior labor dispute centered on ‘tempo tuta’, where a worker sought compensation for time spent changing into and out of service uniforms, arguing that hygiene and safety protocols necessitate these actions occur within the facility during paid working hours.

Systemic issues persist, specifically regarding critical staffing shortages. Recent reports confirm that severe medical staff shortages in the Molise region are causing long wait times and insufficient coverage during both peak and off-peak periods.

Furthermore, the hospital’s interventive hemodynamics laboratory faces potential deactivation. Following an Agenas study, there are concerns that specialized cardiac care may be shifted to facilities in Vasto or San Severo, a move that local representatives argue could threaten access to life-saving services.
