Stefano De Martino will host and direct the Sanremo Music Festival 2027, scheduled for 16–20 February at the Teatro Ariston. Following the tenures of Amadeus and Carlo Conti, De Martino’s dual role marks a transition for the event. To internationalize the festival, De Martino is reportedly pursuing high-profile guests such as Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts, and Dua Lipa. Official regulations for the 77th edition reveal significant structural changes. The competition will feature 24 artists in a single category and introduce three distinct finals. A new ‘Performance Night’ on Friday, 19 February, will determine Italy’s Eurovision Song Contest representative, a role no longer automatically granted to the overall winner. Additionally, a dedicated cover song evening will be held on Thursday, and online voting via RaiPlay will be introduced to engage younger audiences. In a notable regulatory shift, the festival has implemented a strict ban on generative artificial intelligence. AI cannot be used to replace or distort the “essential human creative contribution” in lyrics or music; the festival may utilize digital audio forensic analysis to enforce this.
