Various towns in Spain are holding traditional festivities dedicated to Sant Roc. In Rubí, the celebration honors a tradition with over 180 years of history, rooted in a 16th-century municipal vow to seek protection against epidemics. Modern festivities include ‘castells’ (human towers), parades, religious processions, and musical performances. In Alaró, celebrations featured the Cossiers de Alaró traditional dances, marking the tenth anniversary of women participating in the dance and its designation as a Festival of Cultural Interest. The event included a parade of floats and troupes involving over one thousand participants. The dancers, accompanied by the Dama and the Dimoni, performed at twelve locations throughout the municipality, with the event attended by local authorities including Mayor Llorenç Perelló and President Marga Prohens. In the Cós del Bou neighborhood of Tarragona, festivities included high-level ‘castells’ performances, such as a 7-story tower with folre, serving as preparation for the Sant Magí festivities. The procession also introduced a new dwarf figure named ‘Fervi’, created by sculptor Àngels Cantos, to honor local photographer Josep Ferrer for his decades of documenting neighborhood social life.
