In late July 2026 2026, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife city council launched a short‑term neighbourhood cleaning operation, deploying dozens of municipal workers and vehicles to clear streets in the El Draguillo and El Rosarito districts. The initiative was paired with a council motion urging the Spanish State to release funding for a €2.2 million beach‑stabilisation project at Benijo, citing delays from a national coastal authority report. After three years of work, La Rosa street in the El Toscal neighbourhood reopened on a €6 million budget, partly financed by EU Next Generation funds. The overhaul added 650 m of widened sidewalks, 40 new trees, electric‑vehicle charging points, smart pedestrian crossings, a fire‑hydrant network, upgraded water, sewage and telecom infrastructure, and a dedicated electric‑bus line 914. Simultaneously, the municipality began a short‑term resurfacing of Lope de Vega street, scheduled for 3 – 7 3–7 August with a budget of €83 179.
