SAP is advancing its enterprise technology through the integration of artificial intelligence and modernized system architectures. Initially, the company focused on facilitating S/4HANA migrations by utilizing generative AI via its copilot, Joule, and new agentic AI tools. This approach aims to automate technical debt management and custom code analysis while supporting a ‘clean core’ strategy that keeps ERP systems upgrade-safe by moving customizations to the SAP Business Technology Platform. Building on these advancements, SAP introduced the Autonomous Enterprise framework at SAP Sapphire 2026. This framework seeks to integrate AI into core business operations to transition employees from manual process operators to leaders of strategy and judgment. A central element of this evolution is Joule Work, an AI engagement layer that enables intent-driven interaction, allowing workers to orchestrate workflows using plain language rather than navigating multiple systems manually. Expanding this vision, SAP is now deploying specialized AI agents and assistants to automate processes across finance, human resources, suppliers, and supply chains, with over 200 agents and 50 assistants becoming available through its Business Suite. To support this rollout, SAP has announced a 100 million euro investment to assist partners in developing and deploying these tools. In Spain, the ‘SAP Agent Ready’ initiative has launched in collaboration with partners like Inetum, SEIDOR, and Indro, focusing on practical use cases such as retail promotion optimization. This pilot market serves as a precursor to a broader expansion across the EMEA region. Meanwhile, in Latin America, SAP has framed AI adoption as a ‘strategic necessity,’ utilizing the SAP Business AI Platform to integrate the Joule interface with business applications to augment human decision-making within a framework of governance and security.
