The controversy surrounding former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson has continued to unfold develop throughout July 2026. After earlier reports linked her to Prince Harry via messages routed through his sisters and highlighted a 2011 $20,000 loan from Jeffrey Epstein, investigators focused on her enduring financial ties to the convicted sex offender. By late July, Ferguson remained abroad, having been photographed in the Austrian Alps in April and confirming in a People interview that she keeps a low profile, stays in regular contact with daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and awaits news of Eugenie’s third child. She has been was asked to vacate the former Royal Lodge and is began searching for new accommodation near Windsor, while the royal family has offered no public comment. On 24 July the UK Charity Commission formally dissolved her charitable foundation, Sarah’s Trust, removing it from the public register. The termination followed a US Department of Justice release of Epstein‑related documents that included Ferguson’s email describing Epstein as “the brother I have always wished for” and arranging a meeting in Miami after his 2009 release. The register; the next day before, on 23 July, the Commission confirmed the formal winding‑up of Sarah’s Trust, winding‑up, noting that the charity had already announced in February it would cease operations pending internal review. The DOJ Department of Justice release of Epstein‑related emails intensified scrutiny, prompting several other charities—including the Teenage Cancer Trust, Julia’s House and Prevent Breast Cancer—to cut ties, and led to Ferguson losing her courtesy royal title and the freedom of the City of York. On 26 July 2026 the Charity Commission updated the register to list Sarah’s Trust as “converted/closed”, confirming the final closure of the organisation after closure.
