Sardinia is hosting several cultural heritage initiatives throughout October to highlight its archaeological, artistic, and medieval history. The ‘Le Giornate del Romanico’ program, organized by the Fondazione Sardegna Isola del Romanico, features visits to approximately 75 to 80 churches and basilicas across 70 towns. This initiative includes specific itineraries like the Coros Romanico tour and aims to showcase the island’s unique political and cultural history from the Romanesque era. To support education, the foundation is also providing a didactic board game called ‘Judikes’ to local schools. Additionally, Scheduled visits include the Basilica of Santa Maria in Bonarcado, San Palmerio in Ghilarza, and the Basilica of Santa Giusta. The ‘Monumenti Aperti’ initiative is scheduled from October 10 to 12, featuring 85 monuments and five distinct itineraries. These tours cover various locations, including Arzachena, Chiaramonti, Mogoro, Ozieri, Quartu Sant’Elena, and Tortolì, to showcase the region’s identity-rich heritage. Additionally, the program will open 29 cultural sites in locations such as Ulassai, Ardauli, Capoterra, and Siddi, utilizing narratives provided by local residents, associations, and schools.
