The program has approximately 1.2 billion euros in funding.
In a practical application of similar technology, researchers in Australia are using satellite-based remote sensing and AI to manage fire risks at the New England Solar Farm in New South Wales. By utilizing hyperspectral imagery from Germany’s EnMAP satellite, operators can monitor grass height, moisture, and biomass to distinguish between moist vegetation and flammable fuel, protecting critical infrastructure from bushfire hazards.
