SBI Group digital financial service expansions

Overview

SBI Group is expanding its digital financial footprint through multiple strategic partnerships in Japan.

In September 2026, SBI Group reached an agreement with JR Kyushu to develop a financial super app, tentatively named ‘JQ BANK’. Targeted for a fiscal year 2027 launch, the platform aims to integrate banking services via SBI Shinsei Bank with JR Kyushu’s existing ecosystem, including the ‘SUGOCA’ IC card and ‘JR Kyupo’ point system. The app is expected to eventually incorporate securities, insurance, and crypto asset services.

Following this, in October 2026, SBI Holdings announced a joint venture with Money Forward and US-based Mesh Connect to establish a blockchain-based payment infrastructure. This venture, which aims for a 2026 launch, focuses on simplifying cryptocurrency transactions, including the purchase, transfer, and settlement of digital assets. Mesh Connect will hold a 60% stake in the new company, with SBI Group holding 26% and Money Forward holding 14%.
