SBI Holdings investment in Ajaib Group
Overview
Japanese financial conglomerate SBI Holdings has made a US$270 million strategic investment in Ajaib Group, Indonesia’s leading online multi-asset investment platform. Through a subsidiary, SBI acquired an approximately 20% stake in the Jakarta-based company, implying a total valuation of roughly US$1.35 billion.
This transaction represents Indonesia’s largest tech funding round since 2022. Ajaib, which provides an app-based platform for trading stocks, mutual funds, bonds, US equities, and crypto assets, has raised a total of more than US$500 million since its inception. The platform primarily serves millennial and Gen Z investors, with over 3 million users.
The partnership intends to leverage Ajaib’s retail user base and local financial licenses alongside SBI’s settlement infrastructure. The collaboration is expected to support digital asset expansion in Southeast Asia, including the potential distribution of JPYSC, a yen-backed stablecoin issued by SBI with Startale Group.
