Venezuela is experiencing advancements in biotechnology and scientific research across the agricultural and medical sectors. Initial developments include research by the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) into using symbiotic mixtures for poultry, black soldier fly larvae as protein alternatives, and precision biotechnology for climate-resilient pastures. In the medical field, engineers at Cendit developed a domestic electrocautery prototype designed to reduce import reliance. Subsequent efforts have expanded into strategic scientific alliances. The Zulian Institute of Technological Research (INZIT) and IVIC have partnered to optimize the cocoa sector through soil characterization and edaphological diagnostics aimed at improving crop yields and quality. Building on these scientific foundations, practical agro-food reactivation plans have been launched at the municipal level. The Institute for Productive Development of the José Antonio Páez Municipality (Imdepro) has implemented initiatives focused on intensive animal protein production and grain development. This includes the rehabilitation of the Nuevo Molino facilities, which now features a 345-square-meter poultry fattening warehouse designed for continuous 40-day production cycles. Furthermore, the program has commenced rice seedling production using certified seeds, with an estimated harvest of 40 tons intended to support cultivation across more than 200 hectares.
