In early July 2026, former Police Scotland officer Cameron Ross was sentenced by a the High Court in Edinburgh to ten years' imprisonment and an indefinite place on the sex offenders' register for raping two women and repeatedly abusing a third between 2012 and 2022. The ruling emphasized punishment, public protection and rehabilitation, and highlighted Police Scotland’s commitment to investigate misconduct irrespective of rank. Later in the same that month, 21‑year‑old Aaron Strachan received an Order for Lifelong Restriction for the abduction, sexual assault and attempted murder after being convicted of abducting and raping a 15‑year‑old girl in Edinburgh, along on 25 May 2025.
