The second season of the ‘Scrubs’ revival has premiered on ABC in the United States, with episodes also becoming available for streaming on Hulu. The season continues to follow veteran doctors J.D., Turk, and Elliot—played by Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke—as they mentor a new generation of medical professionals at Sacred Heart Hospital. ABC has announced four new cast members joining the second season. Ed Quinn will portray Dr. Jax, described as the “charming and confident head of the ER,” while Stephanie Koenig will appear as the new hospital administrator, Cassie. Additionally, Punkie Johnson will guest-star as a patient named Dee, and Kellan Tetlow will appear as Ollie, the son of J.D. and Elliot. Recent developments in the season include the fourth episode, ‘My Chief’, which focuses on workplace dynamics and administrative crises. In this episode, J.D. serves as the Chief of Medicine and must navigate a situation involving a costly patient readmission. Tension arises when J.D. discovers that the signature authorizing the premature discharge belongs to his longtime friend and the Chief of Surgery, Dr. Christopher Turk. ABC released a trailer for the second season ahead of its two-episode premiere on September 30, 2026. The new season introduces a more serious storyline involving Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley) and his worsening kidney problems and autoimmune disease. Ava Bunn has been promoted to series regular as intern Sam Tosh, and Scott Foley returns as Sean Kelly. Following the premiere, episode six is scheduled to air on ABC on October 28, 2026, with streaming availability on Hulu the following morning. Regarding international distribution, Disney+ has announced that the second season will premiere on November 25, 2026. The streaming service plans to release two episodes simultaneously at launch, followed by a weekly release schedule for the remaining episodes. ~~The production remains under 20th Television, a division of Disney Television Studios, with Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer serving as executive producers.~~
