Authorities in Ireland and the United States have issued several food recalls due to contamination concerns. Initial alerts focused on smoked fish products due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. In Ireland, SuperValu recalled specific 40g and 150g packs of smoked salmon. In the United States, Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc. recalled the Starfish Seafood Trio, a ready-to-eat package containing cold-smoked salmon, halibut, and trout that originated in Latvia. Subsequent recalls in Ireland expanded to include Wrights of Marino Sliced Smoked Salmon (400g) due to Listeria. Additionally, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued recalls for Ready Brek Original and Tesco Super Smooth Porridge following potential infestations by flour beetles. The Ready Brek recall affects 750g and 450g packs, while the Tesco recall involves 750g batches with best-before dates between 30/06/2027 and 15/08/2027. In the United States, Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc. has also voluntarily recalled Starfish Seafood Premium Cold Smoked Norwegian Salmon (8-ounce/227-gram vacuum-sealed packages) following detection of potential contamination. This recall affects lot number D080-148 and includes distribution in New York, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. No illnesses have been reported. In Ireland, the Wrights of Marino recall is a Category 1 alert for the 400g batch identified by code ‘Yellow A38’ with a use-by date of 06/10/2026.
