Police in the Czech Republic have launched a nationwide search for Jana Šerjeníková, a 38-year-old mother of two and Ostrava court employee who has been missing since the morning of September 3. Initial search efforts focused on the Moravian-Silesian Region, including the Beskydy area, reservoirs, and local medical facilities. Investigators utilized drones and requested dashcam footage from specific streets in Frýdek-Místek to assist the probe. As the disappearance entered its twelfth day, the investigation expanded. Authorities searched Šerjeníková’s office for clues and noted that recent investigative leads suggest traces of her disappearance may lead into Slovakia. Consequently, Slovak police have joined the operation. Investigators noted that Šerjeniková disappeared after leaving her home for work in Ostrava, leaving behind her phone, identification, money, and documents, carrying only a backpack. Search efforts continue to include the inspection of mountain cabins and areas surrounding the Olešná and Žermanice reservoirs. By the fourteenth day of the search, authorities expressed concern that Šerjeníková may be in danger to her life or health, noting that leaving without means of communication is “highly unusual.” She was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, shiny dark leggings, and beige lace-up shoes. In addition to searching shopping centers and mountain cottages, detectives have issued a specific request for dashcam footage from vehicles parked or driving near Tolstého and Antala Staška streets between 9:00 PM on September 2 and 7:00 AM on September 3.
