Sassuolo and Fiorentina are scheduled to meet at the Mapei Stadium on Monday, November 2, 2026, in a high stakes Serie A fixture. Both clubs are currently struggling for form, with Sassuolo occupying 15th place and Fiorentina sitting in 17th. Sassuolo enters the match following a difficult period marked by four defeats in their last five outings, including a heavy 6-2 defeat against Lazio. The team currently has eight points from nine matches. Head coach Alberto Aquilani faces significant defensive challenges, as the squad has conceded 22 goals in nine matches. The team will be without midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt due to suspension, while Fedde Leysen remains sidelined with a knee injury. Fiorentina, led by Paolo Vanoli, has also struggled, securing only five points so far. Following a recent 2-2 draw against Atalanta, the visitors aim to close the three-point gap between themselves and the hosts. Ahead of the match, Vanoli expressed caution, noting that Sassuolo will be motivated to redeem themselves after their loss to Lazio. He identified the experience of Sassuolo players such as Berardi, Matic, and Laurienté as key factors. Regarding Fiorentina's squad, Vanoli confirmed Ranieri will not recover in time for the match, while Atta continues his recovery. The defensive lineup is expected to feature Dragusin and Viery. Analysts expect a competitive game, with betting markets suggesting Fiorentina are slight favorites. Due to the defensive vulnerabilities of both sides, many experts anticipate that both teams will score. The upcoming match, which will be officiated by referee Matteo Marcenaro, is viewed as a crucial battle for both clubs as they seek to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
