Security threats in Saudi Arabia

Overview

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs initially issued a travel warning for Saudi Arabia following public threats from Houthi rebels regarding the country’s airspace and airports. In response to these security concerns, the airline PLL LOT suspended flight connections between Warsaw and Riyadh, as well as Warsaw and Dubai.

By mid-October, Poland raised the travel advisory to its fourth and highest level, advising all travelers to refrain from visiting the country due to a rapid deterioration in security. This escalation followed a series of violent attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. On October 10, an attack resulted in 13 deaths and 309 injuries, followed by rocket fire on October 11 that caused at least one death and 11 injuries. Houthi rebels from Yemen have claimed responsibility for these attacks.
