The State System for Integral Family Development (SEDIF) in Puebla has transitioned from planning social initiatives to implementing large-scale community investments. Initially, the SEDIF board, led by President Ceci Arellano, focused on reviewing health and social assistance projects. These discussions centered on expanding medical services through collaborations with specialists and foundations, specifically targeting visual health, specialized medical procedures, women’s health prevention, and support for children in care homes. Under the 2026 Community Work Program, SEDIF is investing 40,356,041 pesos to fund 432 community work actions across 154 municipalities. This funding aims to benefit approximately 43,296 people by improving infrastructure for food services, childcare, training, and rehabilitation. Specific allocations include 224 breakfast centers, 79 Community Child Assistance Centers (CAIC), 70 Training and Development Centers (CECADE), 34 day stays, and 25 Basic Rehabilitation Units. Ceci Arellano stated that these projects address community needs such as school nutrition, safe spaces for children, and autonomy for people with disabilities. In specialized health infrastructure, SEDIF has inaugurated a new neurosensory chamber at the State Mental Health Center. This project, which took 18 years to complete, involved an investment of 1.664 million pesos and provides visual and auditory stimulation tools to assist in diagnosing neurosensory development disorders, strengthening the field of paidopsychiatry. Furthermore, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier is overseeing the construction of the Integral Rehabilitation and Specialties Center (CIRE-SEDIF). This 198 million peso project is currently 41 percent complete and is expected to serve more than 150,000 people annually once operational. Expanding its nutritional support, SEDIF is also growing its school feeding program in the Teziutlán microregion. Director General Carlos Ochoa Rodríguez reported that the initiative includes 73 hot breakfast centers and 17 cold breakfast centers, aiming to deliver over 322,000 rations to support the nutritional development of more than 11,000 students.
