In late June 2026 Senegal concluded Operation “Salémata 2026,” deploying over 350 troops and about 40 vehicles along the Senegal‑Guinea frontier for joint security and civil‑military projects. In mid‑July Senegalese forces entered the historic Bullock Military Camp in The Gambia, demolishing roughly 200 metres of its perimeter fence and, on 19 July, ordered Gambian farmers in Jimbala Kerr Musa to abandon their fields, claiming the land belonged to Senegal. The clash left one Senegalese soldier injured and another missing, prompting diplomatic condemnation from Gambian legislators. Two weeks later, on 29 July, Senegal and The Gambia signed a definitive border‑demarcation agreement.
