Senegal has initiated several programs aimed at fostering a sustainable and sovereign economy. The Ministry of Microfinance and Social and Solidarity Economy signed a framework agreement with Nexus Group to launch an organic economy program. This initiative, aligned with the ‘Vision Senegal 2050’ policy, includes creating a model mining village in partnership with SOMISEN, implementing decentralized energy projects, and establishing academic cooperation with European universities. Furthering economic expansion, the Senegalese Prime Minister met with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Director General Makhtar Diop to discuss private sector investment and the “Sunu Champions” ‘Sunu Champions’ initiative, which seeks to bolster national entrepreneurship. Additionally, the agro-industrial group EDK entered a technical assistance agreement with the IFC to improve governance and prepare for capital market access to support regional expansion in West Africa.
