Senegal’s social security grant programs have undergone significant administrative updates and beneficiary restructuring. Initially, the Social Security Grant (BSS) reached 355,013 enrolled households, including 64,217 individuals with disabilities, providing quarterly transfers of 35,000 CFA francs to support food, education, and healthcare. Following a suspension to update the National Unique Registry (RNU), the National Family Security Grant Program (PNBSF) is scheduled to resume payments in late September 2026. Minister of Women, Social Action and Solidarity, Marie Angélique Diouf, announced that 469,497 households are expected to receive 35,000 FCFA per quarter following directives from the President of the Republic. Payments will be facilitated through La Poste and various mobile money operators. The program is undergoing a major expansion. While the current budget has increased to 70 billion FCFA, authorities are planning for a 2027 budget of 140 billion FCFA. This expansion aims to increase the number of beneficiary households to approximately 1,000,649, providing a social safety net covering health, education, and civil status needs. The government continues to utilize the RNU to ensure accurate targeting and to identify families whose economic situations have improved. On October 1, 2026, the PNBSF officially resumed payments following the two-year suspension. Led by Minister Marie Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf, the program has expanded its reach to 412,011 beneficiaries. This total includes 325,741 households identified via the RNU and 86,270 individuals with disabilities holding the Equality of Opportunity Card. An overall budget of 70 billion FCFA has been allocated for the four quarters of 2026, with each eligible household set to receive 140,000 FCFA for the year. This initiative aligns with the ‘Senegal 2050’ national transformation agenda to strengthen social safety nets.
