This debate evolved as religious leader Serigne Habib Sy Dabakh officially joined the Pastef party following a meeting with National Assembly President and party leader Ousmane Sonko. While pledging support, Sy Dabakh provided a critical assessment of the political climate, stating that Senegal has “regressed by 20 years” and warning against the political instrumentalization of the judiciary, military, and law enforcement.
