Seoul Jamsil Sports‑MICE development

In July 2026 Seoul’s planning bureau confirmed that the private‑investment Jamsil Sports‑MICE project cleared the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s review, opening the way for an implementation agreement and project‑finance funding. The plan called for a 3.3 trillion‑won, 35‑hectare mixed‑use complex to be built around the Jamsil Olympic Stadium, aiming for construction to start later that year and completion by 2032.

A few days later the city signed the implementation agreement, formalising the consortium led by Hanwha Construction and securing roughly 4 trillion won of project‑finance arranged by Hana Financial Group. The financing structure, set up through a special‑purpose company, will fund a 30,000‑seat dome baseball stadium, exhibition and convention halls, multiple hotels, office towers and extensive public spaces, all without fiscal subsidies. The project is projected to generate a 595‑trillion‑won economic impact and millions of jobs, positioning Seoul as a global hub for sporting and MICE events.
