Serbia election observation and monitoring

Overview

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) recommended a full international observation mission for Serbia’s upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections. The recommendation follows concerns regarding a “highly polarized political and social environment” and the potential for voter intimidation and disinformation. While Serbia has implemented some electoral reforms, the ODIHR noted that key issues remain, such as the misuse of state resources and the lack of separation between party and state.

Following these recommendations, the Anti-Corruption Agency of Serbia issued a public call for 14 domestic election campaign observers. Applicants must be Serbian citizens without ties to political parties or election administration bodies.
