Serbian cultural institutions and organizations have initiated various artistic and policy-driven activities. In late September, the Madlenijanum Opera and Theatre announced its upcoming ballet season, while the National Ensemble ‘Kolo’ prepared to launch its new season focused on preserving traditional Serbian dance, song, and music. By mid-October, the focus expanded to include contemporary artistic advocacy and music festivals. The Association of the Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia (NKSS) has been organizing forums in Smederevo, Kruševac, and Subotica to promote local creation and address systemic issues such as ‘the heavy political control of public cultural institutions.’ Scheduled events for late October include the (S) KIM / (S) ČIM Instrumental Festival in Novi Sad, which features seven bands performing genres ranging from jazz and rock to metal. The exhibition landscape in Serbia also includes Borka Petrović’s ‘Glavni lik’ and Maja Erdeljanin’s ‘Dnevnički zapisi’ in Belgrade, as well as Amer Hadžić’s ‘Uputstvo za sreću’ in Kragujevac. Additionally, Montenegrin artist Ivana Radovanović is presenting her exhibition ‘O buduće vrijeme da li si mi tuđe’ in Belgrade. Recent updates indicate continued activity in the regional exhibition scene. Maja Erdeljanin’s ‘Dnevnički zapisi’ is being presented at Gallery Haos in Novi Sad, while Borka Petrović’s ‘Glavni lik’ is featured at Gallery 73 in Belgrade. Amer Hadžić’s ‘Uputstvo za sreću’ remains noted in Kragujevac.
